Surface treatment

Type of surface treatment Content
Nickel plating Nickel plating is a metal coating that off ers moderate cosmetic appearance, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and chemical resistance. A typical plating with a wide variety of uses due to its good workability and relatively low treatment cost. Note that plating surface will discolor slightly over the course of exposure to air. Nickel plating solution has been improved resulting in good plating adhesion and an average plating thickness of 2 μm or more.
Electro-galvanizing
(trivalent chrome chromate
treatment)
Steel spacer treatment uses trivalent treatment agent in surface treatment solution after galvanizing.
(Environmental response)
(Processes)
Galvanizing → Activated nitric acid pickling → Trivalent treatment agent solution → Drying
Treated with an average plating thickness of 4 μm or more.
Black alumite
(anodic oxide coating)
Oxidation is conducted by electrolyzing the aluminum surface layer at the anode to create a thick oxide film. Excellent heat and corrosion resistance, superior wear resistance and hardness with electrical insulation.
Gold plating Plays a major role mainly in electronic semiconductor parts due to its physical properties as a conductor/low-contact resistor with good corrosion resistance, acid resistance, electric and thermal properties.
Treated with fl ash gold plating over a nickel plating substrate.
Silver plating The electrical conduction properties of silver are used in electrical contacts for industrial plating since silver has the best such properties among the metals. Silver is also used for a wide range of industrial and decorative uses due to its refl ective properties and corrosion and wear resistance.
Pickling Eco spacers and aluminum spacers undergo a pickling treatment. Spacers can be used in PC board mounting without plating since oil and impurities are removed by pickling.
(Processes) Low-temperature alkali bath → water rinsing (repeated times) → acid bath → water rinsing (repeated times) → water removal and drying by hot air centrifuge → natural drying
Tin plating Plating that balances functionality and cost eff ectiveness.
Tin plating has excellent surface coating characteristics for solderability and electrical conductivity and thus is used widely in soldering parts for terminals and electrical components.
Kanigen® plating Commercial name of non-electrolytic nickel coating (Ni-P alloy coating) made by Japan Kanigen Co., Ltd., non-electrolyte plating referred to as "Kanigen plating." Used in a wide variety of industrial applications due to its uniform coating thickness, high corrosion resistance and hardness.
