Characteristics of screw-in type insert nuts (Irisert®)
1)
Screw-in type insert nuts are embedding nuts used for strengthening and repairing thread holes in plastic, light metal, steel plates, etc.
2)
Screw-in type insert nuts can be used for re-machining defective female threads by plastic, light metal, steel, or product tapping.
3)
Very reliable thread fastenings can be produced by inserting a screw-in insert nut when the female thread is not strong enough and the desired tightening force cannot be achieved when tapping products.
4)
Screw-in type insert nuts provide reliable quality after insertion since they are fabricated on numerically controlled automatic lathes with highly accurate threads.
5)
Can easily be inserted by anyone to quickly create a female thread with high fastening strength.
6)
By using a locking agent when inserting screw-in type insert nuts, the fixing strength between the nut and the product is increased and reliability of the thread fastening is further improved.
7)
Use locking agent after degreasing or after surface treatment. (Degreasing, alumite, coating)
8)
Screw-in type insert nuts are fixed into tapped pilot holes by screwing in with an insertion jig.
9)
Conduct tapping of insert screw-in insertion part pilot holes by referring to the pilot hole processing table.
10)
Pay attention to directionality of screw-in type insert nuts when inserting.
11)
Screw-in type insert nuts can be inserted very close to right-angle corners.
Note:
Never apply locking agent to the inside of the screw-in type insert nut when using a locking agent.
Screws cannot be taken out after assembly if locking agent is applied inside.
Set screw-in type insert nuts so that the tip of the screw guide is in a straight line with the screw-in type insert nut.
Pilot hole processing table

・Chamfer the tap.(CO.2-CO.5)
・The full length of the pilot hole should fully take the active length of the insert.
・Tap can be purchased by marketing. (It is not a tap only for an insert.)

Locking agent: LOCTITE 516

LOCTITE 516 is a water-based preapplied thread sealant that is high-viscosity, non-toxic, and thixotropic.
Note: Not suitable for long-term storage under high humidity conditions due to water-solubility.
